Frances graduated in 2009 following a long association with GAMTA in our Junior School and then our Professional MT Course. Life has been busy for her since graduation and she has enjoyed a wide range of professional performance experiences that have taken her from panto, to TV, the West End and to both Scotland’s National Theatre and the UK’s National Theatre!
Frances is about to reprise her role in National Theatre Scotland’s Smash Hit ‘OUR LADIES OF PERPETUAL SUCCOUR’ following a successful sell out run at the Traverse Theatre as a part of The Edinburgh Fringe and subsequent UK tour last year. The new production will begin rehearsing in April. The raucous new musical comedy follows the story of 6 Catholic schoolgirls as they travel from their home in Oban to compete in a choir competition in Edinburgh. Directed by former NTS Artistic Director Vicky Featherstone with book adapted by Billy Elliot screenplay writer Lee Hall. We were lucky enough to catch the play on it’s last night in Edinburgh and we absolutely loved it!
But it’s not only National Theatre Scotland that Frances has appeared with. She recently appeared in the ground breaking new musical ‘HERE LIES LOVE’ at The National Theatre in London. The stunning new show transferred from Broadway, with music by Fat Boy Slim and tells the story of the infamous Imedla Markos. The show picked up an Olivier Nomination for Best New Musical and was a success with the public and critics alike.
As well has work with both National Theatre’s, Frances has enjoyed West End and UK Tour experience in the smash hit musical ‘PRISCILLA QUEEN OF THE DESERT’ as ping pong popping minx Cynthia, TV work including BBC Scotland’s River City, Lip Service and Britannia High and has starred as Princess Jasmine with top UK Panto Producer ATG First Family at both Bromley and The Kings Glasgow and most recently as Snow White at the King’s Theatre Edinburgh for top panto producer QDOS Pantomimes.
Frances recently visited us to do some guest teaching at our Glasgow Campus before she began rehearsals for the new production of ‘Our Ladies of Perpetual Succour‘. The students loved having Frances around, benefitting from her impressive work experience!
The new UK and International tour of ‘Our Ladies of Perpetual Succour‘ will begin in Brighton before visiting Glasgow, Liverpool, USA, Dundee, Newcastle, Galway and then ending with a run at the Dorfman Theatre within The National Theatre in London.
