Dorothy
Lloyd Webber and Co has started searching for the star of their latest production "The Wizard of Oz". This time it's the role of Dorothy Gale they aim to cast from thousands of wannabes. No doubt, as has been the case in the past, they will audition anyone who wants to be considered for the role but ultimately will cast either a professional with a proven track record or at the very least someone who has trained professionally.
As a producer would you risk a multi-million pound production in the hands of someone who had absolutely no theatre experience or training? I don't think so. But I'm sure it will bring in the ratings for the Beeb to compete with rival Saturday night favourites. But how many times can you keep renaming the same format before audiences tire?
