The Junior Singer

Vocal Training & Technique with GAMTA

As a singer your child will have a very personal relationship with their voice and undoubtedly this will be an important part of your child’s identity. They will also have an understanding of what their voice is capable of. This course will challenge your child to think about their voice in different ways. Through the learning and developing of new techniques and skills and with our careful and safe blend of support, knowledge and encouragement your child will discover an entirely new voice; one perhaps they didn’t think possible.

We will develop your child’s singing technique, musicality and acting through song skills. We will help them explore their voice through a variety different styles and genres from contemporary to legit, from Rogers and Hammerstein to Sondheim.

Your child will enjoy weekly solo singing lessons at S5/6 level and will have access to private singing lessons from a young age. All students will  take part in several ensemble singing classes per week exploring technique, theory and musicality, group harmony, and a very varied repertoire from musical theatre to pop and classical.

External Examinations

All students will take LAMDA examinations.  LAMDA exams involve all the practical and technical aspects of learning to sing but also includes  opportunity for discussion around knowledge of character, context and vocal technique/approach.   This is a high standard of work and will assist in student entry to further education colleges and our own BA musical theatre

S3/4 level students will present for NPA musical theatre award adding to their credit portfolio for further and higher education

S5/6 level students enjoy additional help with Higher music at school, as many students opt to take advantage of arranging and rehearsing the practical element of their exam with us, in conjunction with their school. UCAS points can be gained from LAMDA exams within each from grade 6 above.
