Part-time Musical Theatre School

The Vocational Training Course is suitable for students who are
attending S3-S6 at Secondary School. The duration of training is 3
years. The aim of the course if to provide students with a
skilled vocational base in preparation for our highly intensive
Professional Training Musical Theatre Course.
Students of the part-time course attend for two 4 hour sessions and one full day per week, a total of 16 hours tuition each week. Students commence their training in early August with year completion in late June. All students receive a comprehensive training featuring Ballet, tap, jazz, body conditioning, drama, ensemble voice, solo voice and performance class. Students of the Vocational Training Course receive a weekly private singing lesson developing their personal technique and performance repertoire.
Students are continually assessed within their class however, formal assessments take place in the Spring with the issuing of a report and the opportunity for parents or the student to come in and discuss progress with staff.
Students must gain satisfactory results in all Assessed areas in order to proceed to the next stage of the Course.
An important part of the provision at GAMTA is performance experience. Students of the Musical Theatre Courses are the central performers in our Christmas musical, some of them understudying or playing leading roles. They also feature in their own Summer Production.
Students currently attending Secondary School or who are about to enter S3 may audition for entry.
