The Starfactory
The Starfactory is the starting point for most children here at
The School. These classes are intended as a fun introduction to the
world of Musical Theatre but additionally are structured in such a
way that the student can progress through the various levels and
onwards if they wish to the Preparatory Musical Theatre Course.
Upon entry to the Starfactory, each student is assessed and placed
in a class which most suits their own level. Classes are also
banded according to age.
Students are continually assessed within their class however,
formal assessment takes place in April with the issuing of a report
and the opportunity for parents to visit GAMTA to discuss the
progress of their child with staff. If a student is recommended for
upgrade to the next level of class, this would normally take place
following the formal assessments in April. Alternatively, staff may
feel that the student would benefit from further time at the same
level. Each child's progress is monitored on an individual
basis.
CLASS HOURS
Starfactory students attend either on a Sunday afternoon from
1-4pm or Saturday 2-5pm.
Students of the Starfactory Course appear in the Christmas musical
production at GAMTA. Starfactory students appear as ensemble in
public performances to develop confidence and benefit from
participation. We don't consider Starfactory students for featured
roles in public performances and the focus of the course should not
be about being cast in a role but should focus on developing skills
and participation.
AUDITION/ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Students attend an Open Day (usually on Saturday afternoon
June/August and January). Students and parents will first be
greeted by the Principal and then view a short performance by some
of our existing students. Parents are then requested to leave their
children for the remainder of the afternoon where they will
participate in three 1 hour classes in Dance, Drama and Singing.
Staff monitor the students on this day and select those students
who they feel will benefit from GAMTA's various courses. Staff will
generally recommend the most suitable course tailored to each
child's specific abilities and needs.
Entry to The Starfactory is by selection from one of our Open
Days.
Students may enrol in the Starfactory Courses from age 5.
The recommended age range is 5-16 years.
